The Ohio Republican party gets a fresh start this week with the ascension of Kevin Dewine as the new state party chair. Dewine, who hails from Fairborn, is from around my area, he’s a generation younger than the previous chair, Bob Bennett, and he sounds eager to begin the battle to take back the Buckeye state for the GOP. He’ll have an uphill battle, and there is some concerning criticism that he’ll seek to completely abandon social conservatism as part of the party platform. I’m not sure if the criticism is entirely accurate or if it’s really the right way to go, but you can read more about it at Naugblog and from the Columbus Dispatch. Should be interesting to see the direction he’ll take the state GOP, and I’ll be watching closely.
