Broadcasting legend Paul Harvey died today at the age of 90, surrounded by family in a hospital in Phoenix. Though I have never had the privilege of a live Paul Harvey broadcast, I remember my grandfather listening to him in the garage as he puttered around. Over a 70-year career as a broadcaster and newsman, his characteristic delivery and creation of “The Rest of the Story” segments are iconic and warranted his well-deserved inclusion into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 1990. The world of media lost a class act and a decent human being today, and his legacy lives on still, resounding throughout the airwaves of AM and FM radio.
See-Dubya over at MM provides a much better eulogy than my own meager words could hope to. Thanks, Mr. Harvey, and God bless.
