Can I get fries with that?
A Maryland robotics company is developing a steam-powered robot that fuels itself in part by consuming organic material in the environment around it (Heads-up from Hot Air). Robotic Technology Inc. calls the system an Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot, or EATR for short, and notes that the biomass being consumed might be animal or human corpses in a war zone.
EATR will start off being a lovable little wheeled box harmlessly munching grass, but who knows? They might go all the way and turn it into a monstrous eating machine striking fear in the hearts of enemy soldiers as they watch it feast on the hearts of their fallen comrades.
Either way, it might be a good idea to keep tight control over the targeting systems.
Update: A special welcome to all you new readers from Finland!
Also, it now appears that a Robotic Technology Inc. scientist has given emphatic assurances that EATR is a vegetarian only. Dr. Bob Finkelstein says the robot would be able to distinguish between different types of fuels, and noted, “If it’s not on the menu, it’s not going to eat it.”
Ah, but that all depends on who writes the menu, doesn’t it, Doctor?

Hah, yes, I figured there are more Finns than that. I know a bit about your nation, and I also knew an exchange student from Finland (or should I say Suomi?) back in high school. I have some affection for your country – maybe someday I’ll have the chance to visit. In the meantime, I’m glad you all came to my humble web site.

The source for both stories is Fox News, one of America’s mainstream networks along with CNN and MSNBC. Some folks don’t like their political slant, but for a story like this I think they can be trusted.

i take your word for it =). It seams “Panu” might have understood your message wrong lol.
I´ve heard stories of America´s main newsstations political backrounds that some are even communistics =).
Not sure if it´s only stories for trying to make them look bad since i´ve understood americans are very patriotic people and if something haves something to do with Red ideals they are quickly thought to be hostile, you know what i mean i´m quite sure you do.
Anyhow, Nice summer ! 🙂

THE TRUTH REVEALED!
The united states already has seen 2 man eating robots…one of them was made by Honda and its name was the George Bush 2000. The other is called Barack Obama VX2. They both feasted on the incompatant american populus.
